  1. I generally like the spine-strengthen option, most fiscally practical, bounded within reality.

I did not like at all cutting off vehicular traffic on Yukon Drive. If nothing else, the path for alternates should be developed alongside the existing Yukon Drive: bike path, wider sidewalks.

Connecting buildings alongside Yukon Drive seems largely impractical in some cases, as the buildings themselves weren't designed for through traffic, thus would require added breezeways, such as the south of the Geophysical Institute. In addition, there is a dead area between Natural Sciences and the Museum that is unlikely to change.

North Tanana Loop to Sheenjek should be the first priority for road improvements. It will reduce traffic along Yukon, get more efficient access to West Ridge for many who work/study there. It would be a Much higher priority than Malfunction Jct which, despite its common name, works fine for the level of traffic.

A parking garage with office functionality on top floors in west Taku lot seems reasonable in medium long term. It could also relieve some congestion for plugin parking in Nenana lot. Despite comments we aren't short of parking, we ARE short of plugin parking. Assuming it was a semi heated garage (waste heat), it could cut electric bills for parking services. The idea of two level parking using the topography to not require ramps is a good one that can be used in a few areas.

If you want to see an April 1, 2003 West Ridge Development presentation I created that might offer some out-of-box ideas, http://mather.sfos.uaf.edu/~gary/wridge-dvpt-0403.ppt (or without effects: http://mather.sfos.uaf.edu/~gary/wridge-dvpt-0403.pdf ). Enjoy.

    Thank you.
